Mobilize Community Guidelines
Mobilize Community Guidelines
Updated over a week ago

Mobilize's mission is to help mission-driven organizations manage events and recruit volunteers. Hundreds of organizations, thousands of organizers, and millions of volunteers across the United States activate for their causes on Mobilize. We’re honored to be able to play a part in powering those who power social impact. Together, we get to build a better tomorrow.

For that reason, we have outlined what we believe an inclusive and productive community looks like at Mobilize, and we hope to help you understand how best to mobilize on our platform in line with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you find content and conduct that does not reflect our guidelines, please report it to us. When applicable, Mobilize Staff will use your reports to learn and evolve our standards, and thoroughly consider our cognitive biases as we maintain the platform and build this volunteer community. We are committed to making Mobilize a platform that welcomes and celebrates different voices and perspectives while maintaining a safe space for organizers and volunteers.

Act with due care and consideration

We are a diverse community of do-gooders. Be kind. We will not tolerate spam, harassment, and other exclusionary behaviors. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Violent language and threats, incitement of violence

  • Hate speech, even “jokes”, and personal insults

  • Sexually explicit content of any form, and unwelcome sexual attention

  • Repeat harassment of others — no means no, stop means stop, and blocked means blocked. For the sake of clarity, the following list provides examples, but is by no means exhaustive:

    • Signing up for events under false pretenses

    • Attending events to disrupt or intimidate

    • Using open-ended answer fields to send expletives and abusive messages

Commit to safety, privacy, and dignity

A community is an intersection of people from all walks of life. Disagreements and discourse may occur, but all community members agree to not use Mobilize to interfere with, disrupt, negatively affect, or inhibit others from fully enjoying Mobilize, and to not use Mobilize in ways that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the functioning of Mobilize in any manner. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Impersonating persons or entities or otherwise misrepresenting your affiliation with any persons or entities

  • Stalking, intimidating, threatening, harassing, or bullying others

    • Inclusive of slurs, hostile tone, and swearing pejoratively towards others

  • Posting or threatening to post other’s Personal Identifying Information (“doxing”)

Users who have been reported by community peers for transgressing these guidelines may be blocked by individual organizations from further participation with that organization, or globally blocked from Mobilize by Mobilize Staff, especially in the case of egregious or repeated violations. This decision is considered final. Mobilize may choose not to share information about our decisions, in advance or after the fact, for the safety and privacy of those reporting abuse.
