Explainer: Update your Google Analytics tags to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Mobilize now supports the new Google Analytics 4 (GA4) tags!

Updated over a week ago

On July 1, 2023, Google is deprecating the standard Universal Analytics tags in favor of Google Analytics 4. To continue collecting Mobilize data in Google Analytics, you need to update your Analytics tags to Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

To update your Google Analytics integration to new GA4 tags, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Find your Google tag ID

To find your Google tag ID (which usually starts with "G-"), do the following:

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account.

  2. Click Admin.

  3. At the top of the Property column, select your property.

  4. In the Property column, click Data streams.

  5. Click the data stream for which you need the ID.

  6. In the Google tag section, click Configure tag settings.

  7. In the Your Google tag section, copy the ID that starts with "G-" or "AW-".

Note: You can find more detailed instructions on Google's support page

Step 2: Update your GA4 ID in the Settings page of your Mobilize dashboard

  1. Log in to your dashboard.

  2. Go to the Settings page.

  3. Look for the “Analytics” Section.

  4. Locate the “Google Analytics 4 ID” field

  5. Paste the Google tag ID you copied in Step 1 into the field.

  6. Click “Update” to save your changes.

That's it! Your GA4 tags have now been updated. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.
