Event sign up form fields and disclaimers

Learn more about the required Supporter information and privacy disclaimers for event sign up forms

Updated over 2 months ago

Mobilize sign up forms collect essential supporter details for organizations while promoting transparency and empowering Supporters to manage their communication preferences.

Here's a sign up form for a scheduled event:

Supporter information

Required fields:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Email

  • ZIP Code

Optional field:

  • Mobile number

Note: We transitioned to optional phone numbers to improve our compliance with SMS best practices. By making numbers optional, we are clarifying SMS consent on Mobilize, giving users greater control over their personal information, reducing the risk of unsolicited messages and building trust. Our experiment before launch showed that making phone numbers optional increases signup completion, removing a barrier to engagement for your supporters. You can read more here.

Legal disclaimer

"By clicking on the button above, you agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Mobilize is a service provider and will share your information with the event organizer, who may contact you. Msg & data rates may apply. Text STOP to cancel, HELP for help."

This text highlights the distinction between Mobilize and the organization hosting the event, especially in terms of communication control. By providing a phone number and clicking the 'Attend' button or action button, the user provides consent for transactional messages from Mobilize, like:

  • Event signup confirmations

  • Event reminders

  • Follow-up messages post-event

Opt-in checkbox

"[ ] I want to receive texts from [Organization name] about how to stay involved"

This opts users in to receiving SMS messages from the organization. Mobilize does not send these messages.

  • Required for messages that fall under marketing or promotional categories.

  • Opt out requests are handled by the organization and not Mobilize.
