Verification on Signup Forms

Mobilize uses an automated verification step on all signup forms to protect supporters and organizations from spam and fraudulent activity

🔍 How it works

When a supporter submits a signup form on Mobilize, a brief automated check runs in the background to confirm the submission is coming from a real person. This happens on every public signup — supporters will always see a short "Verifying…" spinner before their form is submitted.

For the vast majority of users, the spinner completes in a moment and the signup goes through normally. No extra steps required.

In some cases, a supporter may be asked to complete a simple on-screen prompt — a checkbox labeled "I am human" — before their signup is accepted. This prompt appears when the verification step detects something unusual about the request. It is not an error, and it does not mean the supporter has done anything wrong.

📋 Where does verification appear?

Signup verification runs on all public-facing Mobilize signup surfaces, including:

  • Event signup forms

  • Group signup forms

  • One-tap signups from feed cards

  • Post-signup modals

  • Event suggestion modals

  • Signups recruited via Volunteer Schedule

  • Mobile in-product Attend buttons

Verification does not appear on authenticated organizer or admin surfaces, such as the dashboard or event management tools.

⚙️ How it works for Admins

Signup verification is on by default for all dashboards and requires no setup or configuration from organizers.

🙋 Troubleshoot

A supporter sees the "I am human" checkbox:

This is expected behavior. The supporter should check the box and submit the form.

A supporter says the verification keeps failing:

Ask them refresh their page and try again — most cases clear on a second attempt. If the issue persists, have them reach out to the organization running the event directly.

An organizer is seeing reports of real supporters being blocked:

File a report with Mobilize Support. Please include:

  • The event URL

  • The approximate date and time of the issue

  • A screenshot of the verification prompt, if available

  • The supporter's general location or device type, if known
